For NEW PC OWNERS
Did you just purchase a pc for school? Most come with a trial version of Norton Antivirus, or McAffee Antivirus,and some basic programs. If the internet is going to be used here are some suggestion of mostly FREE programs to get you started. Some of these we have listed on our site. Many PC's get bogged down with Adware and some die from a fatal virus attack. I thought I might re-emphasize the need to run antivirus, anti add software and a firewall to keep your pc happy. New computers come often with a trial version of Norton or McAffee, but soon you will need to spend more money or suffer the trials of internet demolition. CNET has a wonderful recomendation of 20 starter programs that are free. I use most of these and AVS is free anti-virus versus Norton or the other free Avast we have listed. If you want some free software or very cheap solutions to fixing your pc before you see the blue screen of death or the flashing _ cursor of eternal waiting, check these programs out. Mozilla Firefox 3.6 has many ways to set your own themes and special additions. Mostly it has features that help prevent malicious codes from cracking your pc.

You may notice that Firefox does not have a built in email feature like Netscape. Thunderbird is the email program that also has protection features.
